Ecological brick and wood in houses in South Africa
A project that combines soil-cement walls with wood, using bricks made out in the open.

Ecological brick is a better replacement for traditional bricks and works for houses, condominiums, farms and much more. A good example is this clever way of combining it with wood, used to build houses in South Africa, in a project by a Brazilian builder who follows every step of the work and sent us some photos.
You do not need a large structure to start making ecological bricks. All you need is a place that shelters the press and allows work whatever the weather, and another to store the bricks while they cure, until they are ready to use. In the photo below, a worker makes bricks out in the open, without many technical resources, and you can still see the quality of the brick he produces.

These bricks are great for building walls, usually in the 15 × 30 × 7.5 cm size.
