Stages of an ecological brick build: roofing
Wooden structure, thermal blanket and ceramic tiles: the roof of a soil-cement build, in 3 days.
Today there is a huge variety of materials for this stage of construction, such as metal tiles, concrete tiles and alternatives, but most builds still choose ceramic materials.
This build used a garapeira wood structure, a thermal blanket and Italian-type ceramic tiles.
To span the 3.30 m gap, 5 × 11 cm beams were used, with no need for a support in the middle of the span, which gives a cleaner look. For the battens, 2.5 × 5 cm strips were used, to avoid problems sealing the tiles.
The edge was finished with Paulistinha-type tiles, and flashing was used on the left side and along the back boundary, to prevent leaks from the walls of neighboring buildings.
Basically, the construction process for this stage is no different from a conventional build. It was finished in 3 days.
